Typical applications

CIGS absorber layers are formed by selenization of Cu-In-Ga precursor films, where the selenium vapor source sets the impurity background of the finished cell. The same 5N pellets dissolve in trioctylphosphine for hot-injection CdSe quantum dot synthesis, and melt with arsenic or germanium for As-Se and Ge-Se chalcogenide glasses used in infrared optics.

In thermoelectrics, n-type bismuth telluride is alloyed toward Bi2Te3-xSex, commonly near x = 0.3, for room-temperature modules. Tin selenide crystals grown from 5N feedstock have reported zT values near 2.6 along the b axis at 923 K; the carrier concentration such a crystal actually reaches traces back to the purity of the selenium charge.

In metallurgy, Type 303Se stainless and selenium-copper alloys use fractional-percent selenium additions for machinability, and glassmakers use selenium as a decolorizer against iron tint. Gram-scale lots suit alloy development and doping studies where a producer drum is impractical.

Pellets are packed in sealed polyethylene bottles inside padded cartons. Each label carries the product code, lot number, net weight and grade. In-stock lots typically dispatch within 2 business days.
