Cesium Nitrate (CsNO3) Hazardous

A cesium salt that brings no halide with it, and one where the nitrate pulls its own weight as the oxidizer in a flare.

Applications

CsNO3 works as both colorant and oxidizer in pyrotechnic compositions such as decoys and illumination flares, and it is a cesium feedstock for optical glasses and lenses. It is also a starting point for other cesium salts and is reported as an industrial catalyst. Its thin-film role is narrower: it is one of several inorganic cesium salts used in a post-treatment that passivates the surface of CsPbI3 perovskite quantum dots.
